Girona is a university town with a vibrant night-life within a jewel box of incredible sights and attractions that line the cobblestone streets and waterways. A constant source of amusement and fascination await you in this delicious village renowned for its culinary arts.

While Nice is famous for the Col de la Madone and Lucca the Monte Serra, Girona has its very own secret amongst friends, just 20 kilometers north of the old town. Named after the 12th century Santuari de Rocacorba there sits just shy of the summit a climb that, although not as well known as some of the more popular peaks, has a significance all of its own - especially for one rider in particular. This narrow piece of road can be particularly busy at times. Once you cross the Matamors River the clock starts ticking as the road starts to ramp up, and the changing gradient makes finding a rhythm harder than you’d expect for the relatively short 13.8km ascent that averages 6.5%.

David Millar’s turbulent career has been well documented, most notably in his books “Racing Through the Dark” and “The Racer.” He moved to Girona about 10yrs ago and became part of the history of Rocacorba.  Now as a social bike rider, with the creation of Velo Club Rocacorba. It 2009 that Millar and Canadian training partner Michael Barry decided to form the Velo Club Rocacorba….word spread around Girona and the fame of Rocacorba spread. It’s now not unusual for pros to pass each other, one on the way up, the other coming down.

Ride: 145k/2,200m or 90mi./7,200’

Sant Hilari is another pro-recognized climb, and there are many roads that can lead to summit  The two from the Girona sidestarts in Anglès and winds through Osor before continuing its long ribbon toward the Sant Hilari Sacalm. This is a convenient loop with a café at the top to refresh, and also has a technical and challenging descent down. The long-steady climb offers a magnificent forest scenery.

We will climb the Pros favorite side; at a constant 3.5% for 26km it's a perfect climb for maintaining a steady pace and enjoy the scenery of the beautiful cork tree forest and amazing views of the gorge. At the top we regroup for the best descent in Girona. The smooth paved winding road as far as Santa Coloma is the perfect descent!

Ride:  134k/83 mi. & 1800m/5,900’

Day 4: Rest Day of Susqueda Dam loop.
By now your legs may be a little cooked or you may have already taken a rest day, do laundry or taken a look around the amazing city of Girona. If interested, we can arrange for a city tour or you may just want a day to lounge around the pool, catch up on your favorite book or e-mails or use the spa facilities. For those that wish for more we can always arrange a ride to the Susqueda Dam. 96km/58miles & 1500m/4900’.

Day 5: Mare de Déu del Mont.
This is one of the toughest loops there is from Girona, thanks to the notorious Mare de Déu del Mont climb. But what a beautiful climb it is: super quiet, narrow and with fabulous views over the whole region. 119km/73miles 2200m/6600'

The Girona Seaside/Sant Grau Loop is a much loved route, not just by us, but by pretty much everyone that visits Girona. This seaside loop includes a fairly long, but enjoyable climb that winds  up to the village of Sant Grau. From here you enjoy a spectacular descent of switchback after switchbacks that hugs the steep hillside as it drops steeply away to the Mediterranean Sea.

Once on the Costa Brava we ride to Tossa de Mar and return so we get the most out of the spectacular stretch of the Costa Brava that eventually leads us to seaside town Sant Feliu before we head back into the hills. A peaceful climb is followed by some flattish roads that deliver us back into Girona.

Ride: 120k/74mi & 1500m/4,900’

Day 7 The ride up to Santa Pellaia is one of the highest points of the Gavarres Range formed from mostly granite rock, covered in a dense forest of cork oak, holm oak, pine and other vegetation. Much of the Gavarres is a nature reserve. Post ride enjoy one last time what many consider Catalonia’s most fascinating town outside Barcelona. After breaking down your bikes we enjoy one last feast togetherin this delicious village renowned for its culinary arts. Some may even have enough energy to take advantage of Girona's vibrant night-life that line the cobblestone streets and waterways; a constant source of amusement and fascination .65 km / 42 miles, 2400’.

Day 8 is your departure day and we will get you to the airport as pre arranged
