Puglia Bicycling - Trip Overview
“Point to Point around Italy's Boot Heel ”

Andiamo conducted its first bike tour in Puglia (or Apuglia) in 1998 and slowly we've watched the travel world rediscover a region that was once the gateway to adventure and exploration.
Come and meet the people I call friends and marvel at the authentic Italy every traveler hopes to witness. Enjoy the immediate sense of discovery and accomplishment as you bike from point to point within this magnificent region that continues down along an azure coastline and around the heel of Italy's boot.

Puglia Countryside

Days 1-2: Alberobello
A trullo residence within the gnome-like village of Alberobello is courtesy of our friends/hosts Dino and Antonella. Cycle between fairytale landscapes, be awed by the stalagmites/tites of Italy’s largest caves, enjoy olive oil, wine tasting and village tours; then see how mozarella is made.

Days 3-4: Ostuni to the Baroque Jewel, Lecce
Ride to the blue-green waters of the Adriatic and visit the ancient ruins of Egnazia before reaching whitewashed Ostuni. Discover the Appian Way and visit the ancient capital and Jewish medieval outpost Oria en route to Lecce, a baroque masterpiece.

Days 5-7: Otranto and Gallipoli
Enjoy a private city tour of Lecce, then medieval stone towers line a breathtaking secluded coastal ridge that dramatically falls into several surreal blue-green grottoes—enjoy a swim or even a mud bath. Two seas meet as we cycle around Italy’s heel of the boot, then feel a new sense of discovery as we enter the timeless island-town of Gallipoli.
